Former Saturday Night Live Comedian And Writer Peter Aykroyd Dies At 66

Peter Aykroyd, former Saturday Night Live comedian and writer has passed on. He was 66 at the time of his demise.

Peter’s death was announced during Saturday’s episode of the sketch comedy show, hosted by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star” Simu Liu. A cause of death has not been revealed.

Peter Aykroyd was born on 19th November 1955 and was raised in Ottawa, Canada alongside his older brother, Dan Aykroyd. He began his adventure into comedy by joining the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto. Prior to that time, he had played roles in “The New Avengers” and “SCTV.”

Aykroyd joined “Saturday Night Live” in 1979, serving as a writer and featured player. He earned a shared Emmy nomination in the category of outstanding writing in a variety or music program during his year-long tenure at the show.

Aykroyd worked alongside his brother playing featured roles in the films “Coneheads” and “Spies Like Us.” Peter and Dan also co-wrote the 1991 comedy “Nothing but Trouble.” He also played a voice role on the “The Blues Brothers” animated series alongside Jim Belushi.

In the later 1990s, Peter Aykroyd worked with Christopher Chacon. The duo were co-creators on the series “PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal,” a Canadian sci-fi program hosted by his brother Dan. The series enjoyed a four-season run.
