Fortnite returns to iOS, iPadOS, Android phones and tablets, and Windows PC on the back of the Xbox Cloud Gaming service for free.
The announcement coinciding with the Xbox crash over the weekend is suspicious. However, the company did not mention any link between both events.
On May 5, Vice President and Head of Product, Xbox Cloud Gaming Catherine Gluckstein announced a partnership with Epic Games to bring Fortnite to users of its service. Even more interesting is the fact that you only need a Microsoft account and an internet-enabled device to play the game now on browsers.

“With no installation or memberships required, all you need to do is go to Xbox.com/play on your web browser and sign-in with your Microsoft Account to party-up with friends or earn your next Victory Royale in Fortnite,” Gluckstein wrote.
The game has been adapted to work with native touch controls and controllers as well.
This addition is part of Xbox’s plan to bring its gamin service to an upward of 3 billion users in the world. Its belief is that cloud gaming is the best way to achieve this, and quite frankly, the company is making sound arguments with its results so far.
To start playing Fortnite for free on Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can visit the gaming platform. It automatically shows you free to play games on the cloud and gives the controller and touch playing mode options upfront.
