Years ago people saw having a tattoo as a taboo. People saw it as irresponsible considering people with tattoos as being wayward.
A tattoo is simply a form of body art that’s created when ink is inserted, using a needle, into the dermis layer of the skin. This changes the skin’s pigment and can be used to create almost any image imaginable.
Nowadays, tattoos is generally seen as just an art and many people wear them. But do you know that you can contract some diseases if it is not done under the proper hygienic conditions?
First, see some complications that accompany a tattoo drawn under poor hygienic conditions
1.Allergic reaction to tattoo dyes, which may develop years later; signs of an allergic reaction include rashes at the tattoo site
2. Skin infection, such as a Staphylococcus infection are also common.
3. Nodules of inflamed tissue called granulomas may also develop around the tattoo site.
4. Keloids may also form, they are overgrowths of scar tissue.
5. One could contract bloodborne diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV and tetanus from using contaminated needles that haven’t been sanitized.

Below are some precautionary measures you should put in place if you intend on getting a tattoo:
A. Needles and razors should never be reused. Make sure you see your artist remove needles from a new, sealed package.
B. Check to make sure your artist uses a fresh pair of gloves. Also, he or she must wash their hands before starting the procedure.
C. The tattoo artist should use clean and sterilize work surfaces as well as chairs and equipments. Choose another facility if there’s evidence of poor sanitation.
D. Swab the area of skin tattooed with a disinfectant.
E. Cover Fresh tattoos with sterile gauze or a bandage.
F. Follow the artist’s instructions for caring for newly tattooed skin.
With these set of advice and more, your drawing a tattoo will likely be as safe as getting a new haircut.
