Sending emails can be such a chore, especially when it is a critical email. Important emails that can make or mar our future need special attention. Most people trying to send such important emails often use grammar editing tools like Grammarly. However, Google aims to now save Gmail users all of that trouble.

Gmail uses Artificial Intelligence to improve the grammar correction feature. Now, you don’t need to click on the dots menu in the lower right corner of Gmail to check spelling errors. The new tool will now automatically detect spelling errors and grammatical issues. It also autocorrects common spelling mistakes.

Although, this new grammar integration is only available in the English language at the moment. However, there is a chance that the feature will be available for other major internationally recognized languages soon. Apparently, Google is using the same engine powering a similar feature in Google Docs. The feature was introduced on the writing tool in July 2018.

In February this year, Google said they were “using machine translation techniques to help you catch tricky grammatical errors, too, with grammar suggestions in Docs.”

“G Suite Basic, Business and Enterprise customers will start to see inline, contextual grammar suggestions in their documents as they type, just like spellcheck. If you’ve made a grammar mistake, a squiggly blue line will appear under the phrase as you write it. You can choose to accept the suggestion by right-clicking it,” they explained.

Google says Grammar checks and autocorrect will be switched on by default. However, users will be able to disable the tool in their Gmail’s settings. Google will be making this tool available to G suite users globally in the coming weeks.
