Google has announced that a Groups Material Design revamp that has been in beta for months will now begin to roll out soon. The company announced in a blog post that the new design includes a new mobile design, updated collaborative inboxes, and replaces tags and categories in groups with labels.
The mobile redesign of Groups will make it appear similar to the desktop version, migrating from the classic UI. The redesign will also make it easier to browse and search for Groups on mobile. Additionally, it enables users to manage membership settings, and read group conversations.

Google is also introducing Labels that will allow users to filter and search for messages in a group. Collaborative inboxes, which allow teams to use a Google Group as an email list is getting an update. The feature will add filters and quick searches so users in a group can find conversations in a group.
According to Google, the Groups redesign “has a more efficient and streamlined user interface, which makes it easier for users to create and manage groups”.
The new Google Groups redesigned will be available to all G Suite customers starting from 15th September 2020, and will take one to three days to roll out completely. All Google Groups users will also get the update by default.
