Google Unveils Its First Ever Retail Store After So Much Anticipation

Google the software company, has finally unveiled its first-ever retail physical store. Initially, they didn’t have a lot of products to sell especially gadgets.

Google first ever Store opened its doors at 15th and 9th in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, at 10 am yesterday. As expected, the physical store looks clean and minimalistic just like the physical products it sells. Perhaps borrowing some design language from Apple.

Google went for big clear glasses with grids and brown color paint in the store with lots of wooden finishes.

Two tables containing Google products stand behind large windows facing outside.

Visitors and customers arriving at the Google store will be able to try out all the company’s products ranging from its Pixel phones, pixel books, Fitbit wearables, Nest smart speakers, and its new Stadia games.

Three Discovery Boxes containing Google hardware products line the store windows.

A big feature in the store is Google’s Imagination Space, a “17-foot tall circular glass structure with interactive screens” that displayed a variety of products and technologies.

For its smart home products, there’s a room that lets you experience real-life scenarios. For example, Nest devices demonstration in a simulated living room powered by Google’s assistant.

Google’s Store also has a Help support desk to assist visitors/customers with any Google-related issues they might have. Customers can pick up orders from there and repair services like fixing cracked screens on Pixel phones can be performed.

Just like Apple’s retail stores, this new Google Store has a dedicated space for events and workshops that could host things like photography lessons on Pixel and YouTube concerts, Google mentioned.

We don’t have any concrete ideas if Google has plans to ramp up more stores in the US or internationally, but this Manhattan Store performance could seriously influence any of that decision in the future.
