The actress recently revealed she broke two of her ribs while filming her directorial debut on the Netflix film “Bruised”. The Oscar winner who also plays MMA fighter Jackie Justice in the film told Entertainment Weekly that she broke her ribs on the first day on set while performing some of the stunts but refused to stop the production because of her injuries.

Stunt coordinator for “Bruised” Eric Brown said he was awed by Berry’s insistence on continuing because the injuries were quite serious.

“(It was) kind of a crazy injury,” he said. “But that was just her intensity… Halle’s a special case. I’ve worked with tons of actors, and almost none of them have that kind of work ethic.”

Berry said they could shut down production then because the budget was bigger.

“I told the director about it (then), they told the insurance. We had to shut down for months and it was a big ordeal.”

However, for “Bruised” she didn’t have that luxury so she chose to continue

“On this (Bruised), because it was an independent movie, we didn’t have a big budget. The director in me said, ‘I didn’t come this far and work this hard to go home’.”

“Bruised” is due to premiere on Netflix on November 24th.
