At the first reveal of the coming next-gen console, Xbox Series X, in 2019, people joked about how it looked like a fridge. Before long, memes of the console, resized as a massive refrigerator, surfaced online.
In those early days, it looked like it would turn the public against Microsoft’s gaming arm. The revelation of the sleek looking rival PlayStation 5 next-gen console did not also seem to help Xbox Series X’s cause. However, we should never have worried.
Once the real-life size of Series X was revealed, it turned the negative comments about console around. Also, its official reveal and pricing also means that Microsoft can compete in the markets against Sony. But the Xbox makers were far from being done.
Few weeks before it will enter the markets, Microsoft has gone on to design a real-life sized Xbox Series X fridge. On 24th October 2020, Wario64 (@Wario64), revealed in a Tweet that the company had gifted the first one to American rapper, Snoop Dogg.

It also gave one to YouTuber, iJustine. This move is a characteristic of the what many gaming enthusiasts are starting to call a ‘new Xbox generation’. The way the company has been marketing itself recently is now being seen as way cooler than in the past. Simply put; Xbox is becoming more appealing to Gen-Z than before.
The Series X fridge is not the first time that the gaming company is showing that it can be as delicately fun as it needs to be. In September 2020, the complete pricing of the Xbox Series S and Series X had leaked a day before the company had officially planned. The company had simply taken the leak in a stride, replying with only a meme.
