For some people, pregnancy is the time where their skin starts to look fresh and clean. They look so radiant, you feel like you want to get pregnant too just to look that good.
Unfortunately, for some others, pregnancy is the time their skin starts to look so rough. The pimples begin to grow and they become less confident of their body. There’s absolutely a solution to help you glow again and feel more confident.
Here are some tips to help you maintain a glowing skin.
1. Take out time to relax
Trust us, now is not the time to get yourself all stressed and worked up. Rest is very vital for your skincare. You don’t see people that carry the world on their head glowing, now do you?. Try booking in a prenatal massage or facial to help you relax and keep your complexion looking clear and healthy.
2. Do not over-exfoliate
Right now, your skin is way more sensitive, well obviously because you are creating a human. Be gentle when you cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise your skin. Your delicate skin can scar way more easily than before you got pregnant so be careful. Do not burst that pimple!!!!
3. Apply makeup minimally if you must apply makeup at all
Try to keep your makeup as simple as possible. Also, use chemical-free products where possible. There are lots of awful ingredients in our favourite lipsticks and foundations and they are most likely not going to be pleasant for your skin. Try investing in a pregnancy-friendly foundation or tinted moisturiser.
4. Increase your water intake
This is extra important. Increase your water intake. You are drinking for two now, not just yourself. You need to drink lots and lots of water to keep you hydrated and flush your system, which will, in turn, keep your complexion clear and plump.
5. Keep on exercising
Yes, we said avoid stress, but, we didn’t say become lazy. Don’t sit on that couch all day with the remote control in your hand flipping through channels. Take a walk, do some stretches. If you can, try doing some gentle exercise at least once a day. it will increase circulation and bring nutrients to your skin.

6. Kill stretch marks as soon as they come
As a pregnant woman, you’re probably going to start getting stretch marks. You definitely don’t want them ruining your skin after you give birth. Help your body fight these stretchmarks by investing in a really good natural body oil, like sweet almond oil. Use it daily, focusing on your belly, breasts and hips.
7. Try as much as possible to avoid too much sun
A side effect of pregnancy is your sensitivity to the sun. You can burn much more easily while pregnant. You’re also probably thinking you don’t trust sunscreens because of the chemicals in them. The best advice we can give you is to stay out of the sun by finding shade and wear a broad-brimmed hat or you can get yourself a pregnancy-friendly sunscreen that contains zinc oxide.
8. Cleanse skin well
Make sure you’re cleansing your skin really well every day to maintain clear pores and to remove dirt and makeup. You don’t want to start having acne and other skin related problems.
9. Have more intimate moments with your spouse
When you are happy your skin tends to glow. Have more happy, intimate times with the love of your life.
