Honor Announces Its First Foldable Smartphone, The Magic V

Honor has announced its first foldable smartphone, the Magic V launching currently in the People’s Republic of China. This flagship has the same design language as Leader Samsung Z Fold3, featuring a large screen when folded and a small one when closed.

This foldable goes on sale on January 18 with ¥9,999 price for the base model that’s about $1,600 for the 256GB storage model. Let’s get to the specifications of the Honor Magic V, it has a 7.9-inch size, a resolution of 2272 by 1984 and an aspect ratio of 10:9. Disappointingly, there is no 120Hz refresh rate in comparison with the Samsung Fold3.

The external screen measures 6.45 inches with a resolution of 2560 by 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate, although with a 21:9 aspect ratio. According to Honor, this will make the device more useful when used as a phone.

Under the hood is Qualcomm latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 4,750mAh battery that can be charged up to 66W. This device ships with 5G, and Honor’s Magic UI 6.0 software running on Andriod 12.

Right at the back of the Honor Magic V is a 50MP main camera, wide 50MP angle lens and 50MP ” spectrum enhanced camera” lens. Interesting, it also has a dual 42MP selfie camera within the foldable and on the outer display.

There is no announcement of a global model. But unlike former Parent Company Huwaei, Honor most certainly will sell this Foldable in the US. The Chinese model has a higher 512GB storage option that is also available only in titanium silver, Black and burnt orange colours.
