Instagram has launched a new tool that will help you recover your hacked account easily. Now, you can ask two of your friends to confirm your identity if you are locked out of your account.
The company said that it had been testing the tool as part of its goal to improve safety online and prevent users from losing access. Called Instagram.com/hacked, it takes you to a page where you can choose your next step if you are having access issues.
“You will be able to select if you think you’ve been hacked, forgot your password, lost access to two-factor authentication or if your account has been disabled. From there, you will be able to follow a series of steps to help regain access to your account,” its blog post reads.

This is not all that Instagram has been working on. The social media company has also been improving security to prevent hacking. It says that its algorithm now removes accounts that impersonate others and engages in other malicious activities that violates the platform’s rules.
In addition, it is testing a warning tool that alerts you if bad actors using impersonating accounts requests to follow you. And in the future, it will improve these warnings to include DMs from accounts impersonating a business.
Verified accounts will have more avenues to showcase their verification badges than before, which means now you can see these badges in Stories and DMs, and it is coming soon to Feed.
