Telling someone to keep their legs closed and stay celibate is easier said than done. They have to be willing to do it first before they begin the journey of actually seeing it through.
The reality of the media and what it feeds its audience is a s*x-filled content. In every nook and cranny, and in many books and films, they glorify s*x in a way that makes you crave it. There’s now a lot of stigma about not having s*x that puts a lot of pressure into having it.
Film titles like “First time” and “40-Year-Old Virgin” make being a virgin seem like a bad thing. A virgin used to be simple to define. It referred to someone who had never had s*xual intercourse before by the use of the private parts. For ladies, when the hymen — the thin, fleshy tissue that’s located at the opening of the v*gina — gets broken, it’s considered a “loss” of virginity. Once that hymen gets stretched out, it can never grow back.
But now, many individuals consider the use of s*x toys, fingers, tampon or even certain sports as a way of losing your virginity. This used to be easier for ladies to define as being dis-flowered.
However, the word s*x in itself has been given many definitions. It is no longer the p*nis-in-v*gina s*x, but can also be oral or an@l. Also, there are many lesbians, bi-s*xuals, and whatever kind of “s*xual” there is. For the lesbians, they may not necessarily have the p*nis-in-v*gina s*x, but that does not make them virgins.
Once you have introduced yourself to that level of s*xual gratification, it can become hard to stop. Many people who lose their virginity, especially at a very young age, wish they hadn’t.
Why people opt for abstinence from s*x
People choose to remain virgins for many reasons that may not be spiritually inclined. For those who choose to abstain, they do it for many reasons that could be religious, spiritual, moral, or for family and personal values.
Still, even after the deed has been done, many can still choose to abstain. Majority of them actually fall back to and seek strength in their spirituality to keep up the fight. This is because it’s not easy if you choose to fight the war alone and by your own strength.
Once you have been introduced to a form of pleasure, your mind and body programmes you to think about it a certain way. For this reason, it can be tough to stay away from it when you feel the need to appease your mind and body. As a popular saying in the Christian Bible goes, the flesh is weak but the spirit is willing. This does not mean it is impossible to abstain because the choice to remain is celibate is yours. Once you’ve made up your mind then you can do it.
How to stay celibate in a s*x-filled world
First, you should realise that s*x is not just the p*nis-in-v*gina type. To remain celibate, you should be ready to stay away from all forms of s*xual gratification. Speaking the s*x language also can lure you back into the proverbial fleshy desires. Therefore, be ready to take a total purge.
Still, you may wonder how this would last in a relationship. At a point when you already know the intimacy of s*x, it may be tough to find an alternative that would not be boring. But that’s why you’re here.
When starting, be certain that your partner is on the same page with you. If your partner craves to kiss, smooch and go the nine yards with you, then chances are that you would wake up all sweaty and panting after you’ve given in. Therefore, ensure you’re on the same page. If this is not working out, then please walk away. The sea has many fishes anyway; you will find one who is willing to wait till after marriage or take this step with you until you’re both ready.
Then, you also need to make a lifestyle change.
What’s the point of saying you don’t want to swim again when you buy yourself a house near the river. Don’t keep temptation lying about, but purge yourself of it. All the friends who you know lead such a life should be kept at arm’s length for a while. Furthermore, stop browsing those p*rnography sites that make your mind go bananas for bananas. Then, ensure you don’t stay alone in the same room with the opposite s*x. Other things are social media habits, the films you watch, and the places you visit.
There’s more to add to the list. Simply put, ‘flee from temptation’.
To power up your celibacy, you need to ask yourself why you chose celibacy. What is that drive that would make you pull out of a kiss when you get tempted? What is that reason that would make you walk away from a club because you suddenly don’t feel comfortable anymore? When will you become happier without s*x as you’re willing to wait for marriage?
All it takes is a willing heart, the right mindset and a cleansing of the soul.
Happy Celibacy!
