Huawei has announced the P50 top-of-the-line smartphone with HarmonyOS, currently launched for the Chinese market. The company launched two flavors, the P50, and the P50 Pro. The very first Huawei smartphone to ship with HarmonyOS. These smartphones also have Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 processor chip variants.
As recently teased by Huawei, the P50 have very large camera modules. Since the United States ban, Huawei has not been able to sell phones made with its own kirin chips in the U.S.
Qualcomm was last year granted permission to begin selling chips to the Chinese phone maker. Hence the occurrence of the HarmonyOS, its own operating system.
HarmonyOS has been available in other Huawei devices via a software update.
It has no Google apps, play store, or services, solely built for the Chinese market. In a plain sentence, it doesn’t run Android.
The P50 Pro which is the highest model has either 8 or 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. while the P50 comes with 8GB of ram and max out at 256GB.

Huawei couldn’t release a 5g variant of this smartphone as CEO Richard Yu mentioned that:
“5G phones are beyond our reach, and we have to go with 4G by removing the 5G module from our chip design.”
These Flagship smartphones have crazy specifications, the P50 Pro has four rear cameras, a 50-megapixel main, 64-megapixel telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, a 40-megapixel monochrome, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide.
On the other hand, the P50 is a tard stripped down with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and a 13-megapixel ultrawide.
For screens, the P50 Pro has a gigantic 6.6-inch 120Hz 1228p OLED display, while the P50 has a 6.5-inch 90Hz 1224p OLED display. The P50 has a 4,100mAh battery while the P50 Pro has a slightly bigger 4,360mAh battery.
Both smartphones have a 13-megapixel selfie camera. Fast charge wired at 66W while the pricier P50 Pro charges wirelessly at 50W.
The P50 Pro starts at around $927 (5,988 yuan) for its 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The P50 starts at around $695 (4,488) Yuan with the same specs as the Pro starting RAM and storage options.
P50 Pro models will start selling in China on August 12th, while the P50 goes on sale in September. Huawei says the very first of these models will sell with its Kirin 9000 processors. While the Qualcomm model by the end of the calendar year.
