Over the weekend, the Infinix Hot 8 concert held in The University of Lagos’ Sports Centre. As expected, the buzz around the school premises was loud and high. Supported by major brands like Google, Boomplay, Pepsi and Vskit, all movements led to the sports centre.
Marlians, as Naira Marley’s fans are popularly called, and also lovers of Mayorkun and Qdot, showed up to party. Plat4om saw them all adorned in beautiful party outfits, ready to dance and showcase their zanku skills.
The concert started beautifully with the host DJ, “The Scarf DJ”, thrilling the crowd with tremendous skills on the turntable. Dance competitions also held for students on the big stage, in which winners got to win a brand new Infinix Hot 8.
Furthermore, performances by upcoming artistes were not on a low, as their A-game was on for all to see. Qdot, the “Gbese” crooner, was no disappointment. Looking a bit chubby than his usual look, Qdot proved to be a delight to watch perform as the crowd went wild with excitement. During his performance, all hidden skills of “Zankuism” were displayed by many in the crowd.
Not to forget the low moments, the crowd booed the beautiful Teju from Google for halting their fun. She took to the stage to share information on newly added features by the tech giant which will be available in the new Infinix Hot 8.
Sadly though, the thrilling Infinix Hot 8 concert ended on a quite-disappointing note. Although the crowd waited patiently for Naira Marley, he never performed. This was, however, beyond his control. The “Soapy” singer was barred from performing following his public perception and ongoing court case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This news resulted in complete pandemonium. The crowd went really nasty, with some attendees peeing in bottles and throwing them on the stage.
