The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) recently conferred the Fellowship (FIMC) award on Mr Mezie Emelonye. The IMC is the body of professional management consultants approved and registered by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Constitution and by-laws establishing the IMC empower it to promote and regulate the standards and practice of management consulting among its members throughout Nigeria.

 

In addition to the Fellowship, Emelonye will gain the Certified Management Consultants (CMC) status. This status is granted by the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). It is the highest qualification any management consultant can aspire to attain. The qualification is accepted and recognised in over 50 countries in the world.

 

Fellowship of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), an award reserved for accomplished professionals, is the highest grade of the institute’s membership.

 

Emelonye’s experience

Mr Mezie Emelonye has over 20 years of technology consulting experience. He started his professional career as a senior SQL Server database Consultant for the Royal Mail in the United Kingdom.

 

He then moved to the United States. There, he worked for blue-chip companies including Microsoft Corporation, Rackspace Managed Hosting, World Savings, Wachovia Bank and Frost & Sullivan.

 

Emelonye decided to return to Nigeria in 2009 as the Chief Technology Officer of some of Nigeria’s biggest tech start-ups. He has been at the strategic head of multiple early-stage technology startups, helping to define their technology strategy. Emelonye ran the technology infrastructure of the first successful omnichannel business in Nigeria. He catered for both online and offline customer experiences using the same technology platform.

 

More recently, the awardee pivoted towards the Cyber Security Consulting sector to help mitigate against the emerging risks in the cyberspace. He is presently the head of technology at Zinox Group, where he is overseeing a group-wide ISO 27001 ISMS implementation.

 

In addition to two decades of experience, Emelonye has attained an impressive list of international certifications and membership of global professional bodies. They include:

• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
• Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Professional (MCBMSP)
• Professional member of the Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN)
• EC-Council Certified Chief Information Security Officer- CCISO
• EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker – CEH

 

Never a man to stand still or rest on his oars, Emelonye is currently working towards his second Post Graduate degree in Technology Management with the ‘National Centre for Technology Management’ (NACETEM), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

 

He is a believer in corporate social responsibility. To this end, he has played his part in mentoring several upcoming talents in the technology space.
