Instagram Adds Text-To-Speech, Voice Effects To Its TikTok-Like Reels App

Instagram is adding Text-to-speech and voice effects to its Reels App. The Tiktok rival was first unveiled in 2020 to pull content creators away from the Popular youthful TikTok app.

Interestingly, Instagram Reel users would find the new Text-to-speech and voice effects refreshing. But the new feature would be alien to TikTok users as they have had these features for some time now.

Initially, these new features debuted on Tiktok was to help blind people and visibility disabilities hear spoken variations of text. But currently, the addition of voice effects have popularised the feature to be fun and engaging.

Instagram recently announced it’s adding an option to translate foreign texts in its story posts. Whenever the app notices any language other than English, it automatically displays a “See Translation.” This is located just at the top left of the screen where users can quickly translate.

Instagram first added translations to comments, user Bios and captions in 2016. 5 years later it’s adding the feature for stories.

Instagram Has Plans To Introduce A “Take A Break” Feature On Its App

In September of last year, Parent company Facebook introduced a cross-platform messaging experience for Messenger and Instagram. Allowing you to communicate with other Facebook users who didn’t have Instagram accounts without having to switch apps.

That messaging experience also included support for audio and video calls. Although it was still in beta testing at that time with hundreds of participants including 30 developers and 700 different brands. There is no support for Audio translation right now, it is probably in the works.
