Hear ye! Hear ye! The much anticipated royal baby has been born. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex and wife of Britain’s Prince Harry, has given birth to a son. This is the couple’s first child who will be seventh-in-line to the British throne.
Meghan’s pregnancy, announced on 15th October 2018, happened while the couple was on a tour of Australia. Now, in the early hours of the morning on Monday, 6th May 2019, the child was born.
The baby boy was born at 5:26 am local time. He also weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces (3.26kg).
The royal couple confirmed the news through their official Instagram. It reads:
“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019.
“The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”
Prince Harry greeted reporters after the child’s birth. He said the birth has “been the most amazing experience I can ever possibly imagine. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.” Adding, he mentioned that they were both “absolutely thrilled.”
Speaking on the welfare of the Duchess of Sussex, he said: “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well.”
The Prince also rendered praises upon his wife:
“I’m so incredibly proud of my wife and, as every father and parent would ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing. But this little thing is absolutely to die for. So I’m just over the moon.”
According to him, they were “still thinking about names,” for the new addition. However, they promised there will be a glimpse of him later this week.
“That’s the next bit. I think we’ll be seeing you guys in probably two days time, as planned, as a family to be able to share it with you guys, and so everyone can see the baby.”
Earlier, the duke and duchess stated that they will celebrate the birth of their child privately.
The baby will be the eighth great-grandchild of the 93-year-old queen. Also, he won’t officially be a prince until the title is bestowed by the queen.
Congratulations to the royal couple!
