“It’s Like My Career Just Begun” Olamide On Latest Album “UY Scuti”

Nigerian afrobeats star Olamide was recently a guest on Apple Music’s Africa Now show. African Rap icon Olamide shares new album 'UY Scuti': Listen – GRUNGECAKEOn the show which will air on June 27, 2021, Olamide spoke to the new host Lootlove about his 11th studio album “UY Scuti” which he released a week ago. The album follows the success of his 10th body of work Carpe Diem which was released October 2020.

Speaking on his career, Olamide says;

“It’s been amazing. It’s like I just started my career all over again and trust me, man, if I knew that this would have been this big, I would have been doing this for a very long time. I feel like if there was no older version of Olamide, who had been through the street struggle and all that, there wouldn’t be this version of Olamide that does chilled music, but in a way that it still appeals to the street people.”

On collaborations on “UY Scuti” album, Olamide says;

“I really like Cassper [Nyovest]. I like Cassper a lot, I like his music, I like Black Coffee, I like Master KG. And Sauti Sol from Kenya. I love their music as well”

Previously speaking on the reason for his choice of name for the album, the artist had said.

“I chose UY Scuti for the title because this project is way bigger than anything I’ve ever done before. From the creativity, the amount of work that went into the project, the process, it’s just a new Olamide inside me.”

Uy Scuti dropped on June 14th, seven months after Carpe Diem. It’s currently streaming on all platforms.
