The hashtag #JusticeForChima is trending on Twitter as users call out the Nigerian Police for the death of Chima Ikwunado. Chima Ikwunado, a mechanic, was allegedly tortured and killed by policemen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Chima, in the company of four boys, was arrested by policemen in mid-December for driving against traffic in Port Harcourt.
The boys, according to Chima’s brother, who were working with him, were Victor Ogbonna, Osaze Friday, Ifeanyi Osuji, and Ifeanyi Onyekwere.
Obinna further disclosed that the Police, after collecting a bribe, arrested Chima and the boys with him. This was because they discovered a larger amount on the offenders. The total sum obtained by the police from Chima and the boys summed up to the total of ₦150,000. They also collected their phones and valuables items on the way to the station.
Meanwhile, Twitter users have called out the Nigerian Police who they have described as a nuisance as the news of extrajudicial killings is becoming a norm in the Police force.

Isn’t it worrisome that despite the cries and call for justice against such oppression by these police officers, the hierarchy of the NPF have turned a blind eye and deaf ears to the plea of the masses to curb this menace. This incident should be a wake up call. #JusticeForChima
