Grammy award winning rapper Kanye Omari West, has officially changed his name to “Ye”.
According to TMZ, Michelle Williams, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, approved the rapper’s earlier request for a change of name on Monday 18th October.
With the development, the “Donda” singer will simply be known as Ye without a middle or last name
The “Jesus Is King” crooner also took to his Instagram page to flaunt his new hairstyle in what seemed to be a celebration of his name change.

West has been calling himself “Ye” on his social media pages for years. He first revealed he wanted the change in 2018 tweeting: “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
The court documents are dated 11th August but were not sent into the court system until Tuesday 24th August, citing “personal reasons” for his decision.
“Ye” is the title of West’s 2018 album.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian, his estranged wife, would retain West as her surname despite their divorce proceedings.
Kanye had separated from Kim after she filed for divorce in February about seven years after they tied the knot.
The pair later agreed to have joint custody of their four children North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2 with neither of them needing spousal support.
