Lagosians are presently expressing their displeasure over the ban of motorbikes (Okada) and tricycles (Keke napeps) in certain areas of the state. Residents of the state have called out the Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for taking back on his promises.
Last year, the Governor was present at the Covenant Christian Centre annual Independence Day event tagged “The Platform”. At the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu applauded the bike hailing system and stated how the government plans to regulate its activities.

However, Lagosians are now stating that they have been scammed by the Governor, who has gone back on his promises.
Today is the first working day since the ban started. Twitter users have revealed that the crowds at bus stops have increased, and there are no bikes to convey people to their places of work.
See their tweet below:
Dear Lagosians please stay strong. The amount of people at the bus stops this morning are enormous and most are going far, if at all you get a bus, you’ll pay extra cos they know you don’t have another alternative to go far.

Meanwhile, some people feel that the policy will be lifted after a few months, and that is all hearsay. As such, we have to look at alternative ways to live with the policy while it stands.
How has the Okada and Keke ban affected you? Please share your experience with us in the comments section below. Did you have to trek a long-distance or were you stranded at your bus stop today?
