JetBrains Academy is offering, everyone that is interested, a chance to learn to code for free during the COVID-19 pandemic. This learning program differs from what many other organisations are offering.
According to a Tech Crunch article, what JetBrains offers is unique in that it uses its own educational Integrated Development Environments (IDE).
IDE is a software application that provides comprehensive facilities to computer programmers for software development. An IDE normally consists of at least a source code editor, build automation tools, and a debugger.
Others like Freecodecamp, General Assembly, and even Gamedev.tv that has offered free or discounted coding classes do not provide IDEs.

Instead, as the above-mentioned article puts it, they “suggest you download a project or copy-paste code from their snippets going through their courses”.
With JetBrains Academy free coding classes, programming enthusiasts can practice what they learn in simulated environments.
Here is how to join JetBrains Academy free coding class:
- Go to JetBrains Academy website
- Tap on the link that says Start Now for Free
- From there you can select any of the three programming languages offered.
- Also, if you click on I’m not sure, it recommends that you learn Python.
Initially, the organisation had planned to launch this learning course as a paid program. However, with the spread of the coronavirus, JetBrains has decided to make it free for those willing to learn.
Many tech firms are trying to make the social distancing measures put in place to checkmate the COVID-19 pandemic easier for people.
For example, Google had recently made Meet, its video conferencing software, free for everyone. It is likely that many more free offers will come up before the pandemic is over.
Students can learn Java and Python programming languages with JetBrains Academy free coding classes offer. In addition, they can also learn Kotlin — which is the language for developing Android applications.
Almost anyone can also apply for educational licenses from JetBrains Academy. Now, there is no excuse for you not to gain at least a beginner’s programming knowledge.
