The skin may seem hard and tough on the surface, but it’s also sensitive. This is irrespective of your skin type, which could be a defining factor of how you treat your skin.

When you do too much to it, you tend to cause more harm than good, and that’s the reality of how sensitive your skin is. Don’t get caught up in all the superficial treatments with the goal of proving you got an A+ in personal hygiene.

Also, you need to be intentional about how you go about your routines to avoid any skin abusive measures. Most times, we’re clueless about the harmful things we do because of how habitual they are.

For example, the simplest thing like drying your body with a towel can be done wrong. The best way is to softly dab your skin dry. Ensure you don’t rub too hard. In addition, you need to be careful of turning into a product junkie. It’s very easy to get addicted to trying new products when you either don’t react to them, or you keep reacting negatively.

Therefore, you need to control the urge to try on products just for the sake of doing so. If it’s something the media publicises as ‘new and improved’, take a breather first. Pause and decide if it’s something you really need before spending your hard-earned cash on it.

Your skin says a lot about your health and your hygiene without you uttering a word. This proves how vital it is to do more to your skin, by doing less. For example:

  • Avoid hot showers.
  • Don’t take lingering baths.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Don’t bathe for too long.
  • Do not shower too often (minimum of twice a day).

The major things we consider basic could be what’s causing you to maintain unhealthy skin. In this case, minimal is best. Stick to your minimal product list.

Note: If you have a skin condition that requires treatment, contact your dermatologist.
