Lexar, cashing into the new nano memory card business, launched three new memory cards that currently, only Huawei smartphones use.
It is not clear as of now if Huawei and Lexar are in a collaboration or if the memory products manufacturer is just independently targeting Huawei customers. However, one thing is certain; besides Huawei, Lexar is a major shareholder in the nano memory card market.
In 2018, Huawei had, along with its Mate 20 series, unveiled the nano memory cards. This drastic shift from the popular microSD has only set Huawei phones apart but that is as much as it has done.
The nano memory cards could fit into the nano-SIM slots as well. But, it was only available for Huawei smartphones. It may have not been a problem in 2018 and much of 2019 as well. This is because the phone makers had a good year in 2019. In fact, by October 2019 they had sold over 200 million units.

However, with the US ban on the company, it cannot match its past achievements. Thus, nano memory cards that strictly work with Huawei smartphones may not be a good business. Coupled with the fact that Google does not permit it to use its applications, many people will likely not be buying Huawei phones.
Yet, Lexar has unveiled these new memory cards that have different capacities: 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. They also have read speed of 90MB/s and write speed of 70MB/s. Their prices range from $28 to $84 and are also available on AliExpress.
For now, only Huawei smartphones support these nano memory cards. Thus users using Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Huawei P30, P30 Pro, Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro and so on.
Until more smartphones from other major phone makers start to use the nano memory cards, it may remain a relatively irrelevant market.
