LG announced a 97-inch OLED EX TV that introduces the company’s signature Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO). Basically, the TV will not have speakers, instead, the sound will come from the frame vibrating.
It will give the same kind of output that cinema-goers experience when they watch movies in the hall. The setup makes the display into a speaker of its own.
“A 5.1 channel sound system is embedded into the widescreen, creating a performance that offers a cinematic level of immersion,” LG Display says about the TV.
Although this technology is new in the home TV industry, Sony has been doing so since 2017 when it released an Acoustic Surface in OLED TV.

However, LG’s version brings a superior experience thanks to some tweaks.
Despite being inspired by the sound experience in a cinema, the 97-inch TV would find it difficult to completely replicate the experience. Yet, some early testers claim that it is the best-sounding TV they have ever gotten their hands on.
Besides the sound tech it is bringing, the larger-than-life display will bring a brighter spec than industry-standard OLEDs. LG could wait until 2023 before releasing the TVs.
It will be until the release date before we get to see the pricing but don’t expect it to be cheap. There are rumours already that it could be as expensive as $25,800.
