In a $20 million deal, fan token platform Socios.com signs Argentine football legend Lionel Messi as its first global brand ambassador.
Socios.com is a platform that lets fans influence what is happening in their beloved clubs through Fan Tokens. Football clubs like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Inter Milan, Galatasaray, Arsenal, Barcelona, and others are all partners with the platform. These fan tokens are valued by chillZ (CHZ) cryptocurrency. You can read more about how this works here.
According to Reuters, Messi did not take any crypto from the deal. Although, reports surrounding his shocking move from his boyhood club Barcelona to PSG claim that he got a ‘large number’ of Socios.com tokens as part of his fee.
Together we can do more. Together we can be more.

Messi said in a statement confirming the deal and his relationship with the crypto platform: “Fans deserve to be recognized for their support. I’m proud to join Socios.com’s mission to create a more connected and rewarding future for fans around the world.”
Celebrities and crypto companies have always been a bad mix for many reasons. Fans feel that these superstars’ influence will be abused when they only constantly promote the good side of digital currency without equally letting fans know about its dangers.
Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather have recently been in trouble with their fan bases for promoting ‘shady’ crypto. However, while Socios.com is relatively more reputable, it is still in the middle of controversies once in a while. It is quite bold for a giant figure like Messi to put his reputation on the line for the platform.
