On Tuesday 2nd June, in a tweet now deleted by Twitter, President Buhari condemned the state of insecurity and destruction of properties in the east. The president stated that those fueling the mayhem will be treated in the language of the civil war.

“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the civil war. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand“.M.I Abaga Starts #IAmIgboToo Movement Over President Buhari's Tweet

The tweet didn’t sit down well with a lot of Nigerians who believe that the President’s tweet was highly insensitive to the Igbos with a violent undertone. This particular tweet was hugely reported which made Twitter take it down.

M.I Abaga additionally took to his Twitter page with the #IAmIgboToo Movement calling on Nigerians to support the Igbos.

“I can’t imagine being an Igbo citizen and seeing those tweets yesterday. I can’t imagine the way it would have made them feel. So I thought it would be beautiful today to tell our Igbo brothers and sisters that we love them,”

We cannot fix the years of pain, we cannot fix that feeling of not being wanted or being loved. That is not going to be the narration of our generation.”

We love you, you are part of us. This is for my manager Abuchi, Don Jazzy, D Prince, Chidinma, Blackbonez, Phyno, Flavour, Kelechi Amadi, so many people that have given so much to this country, we love you and we stand with you today. We are Igbo too. Bless.”He said in a video.
