Zain Nadella, son of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, sadly passed away on Tuesday, 1 March 2022, at 25.
Zain Nadella was born with cerebral palsy and suffered from spastic quadriplegia, a form of spastic cerebral palsy that affects the arms and legs. In addition to this, he was legally blind. While he had lived under the radar for a long time, he became internet famous in 2017 when his father, Satya, shared his story on his LinkedIn page.
According to the tech boss, his son was the joy of their family, and he added that his ‘strength and warmth’ inspired and motivated him to push the boundaries of technology. The post was tagged The moment that forever changed our lives, and it contained excerpts from Nadella’s book, Hit Refresh.
“I spent the night with her in the hospital and immediately went to see Zain the next morning. Little did I know then how profoundly our lives would change. Over the course of the next couple of years we learned more about the damage caused by in utero asphyxiation, and how Zain would require a wheelchair and be reliant on us because of severe cerebral palsy. I was devastated. But mostly I was sad for how things turned out for me and Anu,” part of it read.

USA Today reported that the late Microsoft CEO’s son had been receiving care at Seattle Children’s Hospital until the time of his death. Part of the company’s statement urged the public to give the family time to grieve privately. He would have turned 26 on his birthday in August 2022.
Satya Nadella and his wife, Anupama, have been married since 1992 and have two living children – a son and daughter – when this article was published. Our heart goes out to the family.
