Microsoft has launched the Microsoft Defender app for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, see all the features that it brings.
Microsoft Defender app on Android will come with its own antivirus capabilities and a malware scanning feature. It will be able to crawl your smartphone and check the health of the device as well as all the apps it is currently running. When you install a new app later in future, it will check it for security threats.
On iOS, the app brings web browsing protection and lets you see the security status of your device. Besides these, it has not much use on your iPhone or other iOS-powered devices.

The desktop version, which works for macOS and Windows, offers a one-stop security solution. It collaborates with built-in or already installed antivirus apps to block malware. Also, while browsing the web, it is on the look out for potential phishing threats and blocks them.
It will provide period security alerts to keep you updated on what is happening to your devices in terms of security health.
Generally, the Microsoft Defender app is designed to protect users from online threat and safeguard their devices from local threats. However, it is not to be confused with the Windows Defender (or Windows Security) app which is strictly made for Windows devices.
The app is free to download but you will need to be a Microsoft 365 paying user to access it. You can get the four download options here.
