Microsoft Office is rebranding as Microsoft 365

Microsoft is bringing all of its productivity apps under one umbrella: Microsoft 365, meaning that the workplace would absorb Microsoft Office offerings.

Per the announcement, the icons will be redesigned. “In the coming months, Office.com, the Office mobile app, and the Office app for Windows will become the Microsoft 365 app, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features,” the company had said.

Soon, Office apps will get Microsoft 365 branding and logos soon. The Verge says that the first changes would be noticeable to users of Office.com and then the Office app on Windows, iOS and Android. These changes would start going into effect in January 2023.

With all of its productivity apps like Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Loop, Clipchamp, Stream, and Designer in one place, it will be easier for users to navigate through them. Also, the coming Microsoft 365 app will have a feed of colleagues and meetings as well as a place for files and documents. There would also be custom tagging to group and content organisation support.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Office will still be around for sometime and customers will still be able to make one-time Office bundle purchases through Office 2021 and Office LTSC plans for now.

However, new updates for the work-related apps will be rolled through Microsoft 365. So, Office would be slowly made irrelevant until every user is comfortable in the new platform.
