WhatsApp recently updated its privacy policy, with users being notified that their data would be shared with Facebook and other companies. The service received a lot of criticism for the move; especially considering that it stated that no such thing would happen when it was acquired by Facebook back in 2014. Despite all the backlash, it seems a bit unlikely that WhatsApp will reverse course. The firm probably anticipated this feedback; and is likely banking on the furore to die down within the next few weeks.
