Does Microsoft have a surprise in store for Surface Laptop fans? The company announced a major launch event happening in New York on 2nd October 2019 where it will reveal the latest Surface hardware. This event may see the launch of a new, refreshed Microsoft Surface Laptop 3.

Word has it that there could also be a bigger version of the laptop. WinFuture reports that Microsoft will unveil a new 15-inch version of the Surface Laptop 3 next month, with the same 3:2 aspect ratio. This move, if it happens, will open up this line of laptops to a new audience, especially with the higher price of the Surface Book.

Until now, Microsoft has worked with Intel. However, there are indications that AMD has been under consideration in the past. Because of this, we expect Microsoft to launch an AMD-powered Surface Laptop 3. Furthermore, it’s possible that this chip could be found on this rumoured 15-inch model. This would be a big win for AMD and a nasty blow for Intel.

If these reports are accurate, then the new Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 could compete with the Surface Book. Microsoft currently offers both 13.5- and 15-inch versions of the Surface Book 2. However, it is unlikely that Microsoft will unveil a Surface Book 3 at the event in New York City.

Microsoft might also reveal a new Surface Pro 7 with USB-C support, a Qualcomm-powered Surface, and a tease of its dual-screen Surface and Windows plans.

Three devices are on deck and ready for some upgrades at the October launch event. One is the Surface Laptop which looks a sure bet, as does the next-generation Pro in the form of the Surface Pro 7. But the potential of a third Surface Book is building anticipation.

And will we see a dual-screened Surface break cover? We’ll find out in a couple of weeks. Until then, stay tuned to Plat4om for all the latest news on the future of Surface and Windows.
