Microsoft will be acquiring Activision Blizzard for the sum of $68.7 billion, the gaming company are the publisher of the popular Call of Duty. This deal comes after the recent acquisition of Bethseda, and Microsoft says this will be the “third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony” upon completion.
Company gaming CEO Phil Spencer says that it will be pushing Activision Blizzard gaming titles towards the Xbox platform. “Upon close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog,” He said.
Another reason behind the acquisition is to increase Microsoft’s involvement in the metaverse. The metaverse seems to be the next big boom as tech companies make swift moves to dominate the space.
Activision Blizzard has been facing several months of s****l harassment lawsuits, a situation Microsoft has frowned at. The company has been touted for promoting a s****l harassment culture; around 38 employees have left the company in the past months as a result.

Microsoft recently announced its Surface Go 3 tablet in a new matte black finish with an optional LTE connectivity. This new colour option and higher connectivity are the only changes to the original Surface Go released some months ago.
Microsft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard would increase its already existing 25 million subscribers. CEO Satya Nadella says that “We’re investing deeply in world-class content, community and the cloud to usher in a new era of gaming that puts players and creators first and makes gaming safe, inclusive and accessible to all.”
