If you’ve never seen a cat-human, then the “Cats” film is the right place to start. This is a grand preamble into a timeless finish of what’s yet to come. It’s the right place to watch all your favourite celebrities prance, prowl, cavort and flop while singing. Yes, that’s right! It’s all in the Cats film. It is a story about inclusion and community.
The musical features stars like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, James Corden, Idris Elba, Dame Judi, and many others who are portraying the fancy-footed felines.
Dame Judi Dench takes up a role as Old Deuteronomy. Jennifer Hudson is Grizabella, a former “glamour cat”, and Ian McKellen is Gus. There’s also Idris Elba as Macavity, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger, James Corden as Bustopher Jones, and Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots.
To create the delicate anthropomorphic appearance, each member had to sport a CGI-enhanced fur. So, don’t be freaked out if you spot your favourite celebrity licking their paws. We promise they’re still human!
The film was done in a set Australian-British film director Tom Hooper designed.
Everything is gigantic, and this makes the members of the cast look as small as a cat should. Psyched yet? There is also the dance numbers you would expect from a musical. For this one, it is made mostly of a dance number so get your dancing shoes ready. Basically, you would be a cat lover immediately you watch the trailer.
The “Cats” film is Tom Hooper’s upcoming adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. It is a beautiful musical based on the book “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” by T.S. Eliot.
The musical initially debuted in 1981 in London and 1982 on Broadway. It then became one of the highest-grossing musicals of all time. It finally closed in 2000, but we’re more than ready for a rebirth. The new musical will be a reinvention of the classic costume drama.

It is a musical that tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles. The plot involves the ritualistic, mystical selection of a very special cat to ascend to cat heaven. Therefore, the extra-special cat will presumably die gloriously on his or her way to cat heaven and the cats are eager to be the chosen one.
It will hit cinemas on 20th December 2019.
