Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Studios has signed a new partnership with 50 Cent’s G-Unit films and Television to produce a new drama-thriller series “Queen Nzinga”.
The new project will follow the story of fierce Angolan warrior Queen Nzinga of the 17th century. Queen Nzinga assumed the throne after her father and brother died. The warrior queen was famed for her political savviness and war tactics. She fought fearlessly for 37 years against the encroachment of Portuguese slavers on modern-day Angola.
Yetide Badaki of ‘America gods’ who is also a co-executive producer alongside 50 Cent, Abudu and Steven A. DeKnight will play the lead role of Queen Nzinga.
“If you liked the movie 300 your gonna love this,” said 50 Cent on the series.
Confirming the production, Abudu shared: “The continent of Africa has a treasure trove of stories that are yet to be told. Queen Nzinga is a story that I have wanted to tell for a long time. So when EbonyLife Studios finally found a home for this project at Starz and Lionsgate, it was a dream come true.”

In 2020, Mo Abudu secured a deal with Netflix to produce three Netflix originals. Two of the movies would be book adaptions from two of Nigeria’s foremost authors.
