Internet comedian Adebowale Adebayo better known as Mr Macaroni has granted bail after he was arrested for protesting at the Lekki Toll Gate on Saturday, February 13th.
Mr Macaroni alongside several other protesters were picked up at Lekki Toll Gate, the site of the infamous Lekki Massacre.
A public outcry soon went up demanding their immediate release. Hours after, a video of Macaroni, shirtless, sweaty, and crammed tightly into a crowded bus was soon uploaded to the internet.

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the alleged killing of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate on 20th October 2020, had approved the reopening of the toll plaza and returned control of the Lekki toll gate plaza to its owners, the Lekki Concession Company (LCC). The Chairman of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi, delivered the ruling on Saturday 7th February 2020.
The ruling did not sit well with several Nigerians who are still seeking justice for those who died and lost limbs to the Lekki Toll Gate shooting.
A protest was soon organised, billed for 13th February. However, policemen in droves soon converged at Lekki Toll Gate a night before the protest.
According to them, they were only putting up “a show of force” to discourage protesters.
They proceeded to arrest protesters on sight at the toll gate and even some passersby. However, several more took to the toll gate regardless of heavy police presence and continued to exercise their constitutional rights.
Several celebrities including pop star Rihanna have since lent their voices to demand the release of peaceful protesters.
