Gaming in Dolby Vision has first launched in the Xbox Series X and S consoles. The next-Gen television technology now has more than 100 HDR titles optimized for Dolby Vision. Dolby vision increases the immersion in games, expands contrast and clarity while gamers enjoy their bright and dark scenes.
This new development brings all of the goodies of Dolby Vision to the Xbox platform. Among all of this is immersive sound in Dolby Atmos, full-spectrum visuals and it even joins other next-gen features on the Xbox.
Formerly, Xbox had only Dolby Vision-enabled for movies and streaming since 2018. This improves ultra-vivid picture quality and even spatial audio with Dolby Atmos.
While all of this is impressive, gamers will need to have Dolby Vision and Atmos ready Televisions in order to enjoy this new compatibility. This new compatibility joins the already HDR10 and Auto HDR games on Xbox.
According to Xbox, to check if your television supports Dolby Vision, press the Xbox button to open the guide. Head to Settings > General> TV & display options > 4K TV details.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is refreshing its Xbox Series X dashboard interface with a new 4K dashboard. The Redmond based company made the announcement recently, via Its Insider program.
Basically, its UI, the interface is getting a refresh. Before this, the Series X dashboard was displaying at a full high definition (1080p) resolution. This is weird because its console can output games in 4k resolution.
The Xbox team said “this change means Home, Guide, and other areas of the UI will be displayed in a higher native resolution for increased sharpness and text readability,”
This upgrade seems to be only available for the Series X, its counterpart Series S can’t output native 4k resolution games, only videos.
This might change as Microsoft is currently testing the new 4K dashboard interface on its Flagship Series X.
Microsoft says its working closely with TV manufacturers to update firmware support for Dolby Vision. Gamers can only enjoy this new compatibility only if they are running the latest firmware. You can head to dolby.com/experience/xbox to see Televisions with Dolby Vision gaming.
