After rumours that the SNL comedian was working on a deal to go to space, Blue Origin announced Pete Davidson as a celebrity guest on its 23 March 2022 expedition.

Davidson will be part of the crew of six joining Blue Origin’s fourth space trip. Alongside him will be former Party America CEO and investor Marty Allen, couple Marc and Sharon Hagle, entrepreneur Jim Kitchen, and George Nield.

Sharon Hagle founded SpaceKids Global, a non-profit that works with Blue Origin’s Club for the Future. Therefore, her and her husband’s inclusion on the flight list is explainable. So is George Nield, who was a former associate administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Commercial Space Transportation office.

For Pete Davidson, he is tagged the “honorary guest” of this trip, likely, to tempt other celebrities to signup for the space company’s flights. Before him, there had been Star Trek actor William Shatner and former football star and sports anchor Michael Strahan.

Blue Origin’s space trips usually last for just a few minutes, and the main aim is for the crew to experience the weightlessness of space. After this, the capsule returns to the earth from an altitude higher than 60 miles above the earth.

As of December 2021, the company had successfully launched 24 flights, with one (in 2011) being a failure and the other (in 2015) being a partial success.
