Google is making some major changes in Play Store, including app recommendations, that will make it easier for you to find apps based on their devices.
In a blog post titled ‘Helping Users Discover Quality Apps on Large Screens,’ the Android company mentioned three major changes that will be coming to Play Store:
– It will update its featuring and ranking logic for large screen devices to find ‘high-quality’ apps and games based on app quality guidelines it had previously listed for developers. This update will change how apps show in search results and homepage recommendations. The aim is to help Play Store users find apps ‘best optimised’ for their devices.

– A new alert feature will inform large screen device users of how apps that don’t meet ‘compatibility requirements’ will look and work after they install it. In summary, it will warn users about apps that may not work well with the devices.
– Apps ratings and reviews will soon be split into device types to make it easier for you to decide on installing an app or not. Default ratings in Play Store will be of the device being used to access the platform. This update means that if you use either a tablet, foldable, Chrome OS, Wear, or Auto device, you will see ratings and reviews from people using the same device when you open Google Play Store.
Google says that the coming Play Store features will come out gradually over the coming months. “Large screens are growing in reach, with now over 250M active Android tablets, foldables, and ChromeOS devices,” the company explains its rationale. “As demand continues to accelerate, we’re seeing users doing more than ever on large screens, from socializing and playing games, to multitasking and getting things done. To help people get the most from their devices, we’re making big changes in Google Play to enable users to discover and engage with high quality apps and games.”
