Amazon is one of the few retailers that handled the massive PlayStation 5 pre-order processing well but it is now telling customers that they may not get the consoles on its 12th November 2020 launch date.
After Sony announced the price of the PlayStation 5, it also opened pre-order the next day. The turn-out, as expected, was massive. The Verge reports that the preorder process for the PlayStation 5 was in shambles for many retailers.
Many of them could not just handle the huge demand for the consoles in such a limited time. However, Amazon, the leading e-commerce shopping destination seemed to be doing well. That is, until it began sending out emails to customers about their order.

In one email that The Verge obtained, Amazon said; “We’re contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (B08FC6MR62) to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand. We’ll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released.”
There are many explanations for why Amazon may not be able to complete pre-order requests of PlayStation 5 on launch day. One of them is already mentioned in the email; there is high demand for the product.
However, there is also the fact that Sony itself is cutting down the amount of consoles that will be available for sale on launch date. The company had cited an issue with its processors not meeting its target.
It is encouraging that Amazon is nit canceling orders; this means that people who pre-order the PlayStation 5 will eventually get it.
