At its digital event, PlayStation revealed the price and launch date of its latest console, PS5. The pricing shows differing price in various locations, here are the details.
Microsoft’s early reveal of the Xbox X and Xbox S pricing as well as launch date as had the expected result. It has forced PlayStation to also do away with the mystery and announce the price of PlayStation 5.
The company did so at a digital event on Wednesday 16th September 2020. For those who missed it, here is the announcement from PlayStation’s official account:

It shows that the Disc drive-enabled version of the PlayStation 5 or PS5 will cost: $499.99, €499.99, £449.99 or ¥49,980. However, for the digital edition of the PlayStation 5 or PS5, you will pay: $399.99, €399.99, £359.99 or ¥39,980.
The pricing comes as a shock as it completely threatens the Xbox Series S. Here is the thing: the Series S is like a less-powerful edition of Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. Its pricing of $299 had been there for those who could not pay the $499 price for the Series X. But, with PS5 lowering its digital version to just $100 more, it will likely be a struggle to sell the Series S.
PlayStation also announced that people can start to pre-order the PS5 consoles on 17th September 2020. However, only at select retailers.
The company will officially launch PlayStation 5 into the markets on 12th November 2020. But, it will be only available in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. It will take a week before the console goes to the rest of the world.
Thus, by 19th November 2020, you should be able to buy the PlayStation 5 anywhere you are in the world.
