R Kelly is not having a great time in prison, apparently. According to reports, he has been moved to solitary confinement after he was attacked by another inmate in his prison cell.
The RnB singer was sitting on his bed in Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Chicago when a fellow inmate assaulted him, says TMZ. His attacker was said to be angry over the spate of protests from Kelly’s supporters outside the prison gates.
“My understanding is, every time there is a pro-R Kelly protest outside of the jail, they lock down the entire facility,” R Kelly’s lawyer Steven Greenberg told the New York Post.

“When they do this, inmates don’t get their commissary, they don’t get their shower. Stuff like that and since they’re fairly sporadic anyway, they get upset. So they’re penalising everyone in the facility because people are protesting in support of Kelly.”
He says R Kelly has now been moved to solitary confinement. “That’s the only place they can protect him“.
The alleged attack did not take long it is reported and after a doctor’s check, his injuries were declared “not serious”.
R Kelly is in jail over multiple counts of s*xual child abuse. He’s continually denied the charges. He has also asked to be released from prison, citing the pandemic as one of his reasons. His requests have so far been turned down.
