In an interview with Sunday Scoop, the actress and social media influencer said, she became depressed after her relationship brought her mum sadness.

“I can remember that I was suicidal after the show. It was my dad that found me when I was about to end my life. The reason is I saw my mum cry because he (Kachi, her co-owner on the show and former boyfriend) was welcomed into our house.

He was treated like a son, but he decided to pay us back with lies. My mother’s tears moved me. I never want to see my mother cry. It was even more painful because we were hurt deeply by someone we never did any wrong to. Seeing my mum cry made me suicidal. However, my dad came through and asked me why I wanted to end my life because of one person that was not worth anything to me again.

Love is not supposed to hurt. I am not hurt because love hurt me; rather, I am hurt because a person hurt me. I then stood up and decided to keep my mind focused on my sons. They motivate me every day. My fear every day is that of ever failing them. Every day, I usually find something to do or read. I am always pushing myself to the limits.”

On why she joined Nollywood, Afuwape said: “I did not venture into Nollywood because of fame. I believe there are still many untold stories out there. I want to make a difference. Inasmuch as I am an actress, I am also looking forward to producing my own movies.”

Advising women who are in toxic relationships, she said, “Please walk out. I know the societal pressures ‘What would people say’, How can I start all over again’? ‘Where do I start from’? ‘’How would people see me’? However, you are the one that wears the shoes, so you know where it pinches.”

Rosie Afuwape rose to stardom when she and Kachi Ucheagwu emerged winners of its maiden edition of Ultimate Love reality show.

Multichoice’s Ultimate Love Reality show premiered on 9th February 2020. The aim of the show was for contestants to mingle and find their life partners.

However, their relationship went sour in November 2020 when her ex-fiance, Kachi accused her of aborting their child and putting her career over their relationship. He also alleged that she called off their engagement after sending a letter to Multichoice.

Rosie was quick to refute the allegations in a Youtube video titled “My Truth”. In the video, Rosie came prepared with receipts by putting up screenshots of her conversation with Kachi as well as test results from the hospital which clearly stated that the 36-year old did not have an abortion.
