Report: TikTok Overtakes Google As The Most Popular Domain Globally

Reports from Cloudfare ranks TikTok as the most popular domain globally after overtaking tech giant Google. Cloudfare data shows how much traffic the most popular domains had for 2021.

Last year, TikTok ranked 7th while Google was leading at first position. This year, Google is currently second while the likes of Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon follow respectively. Right there at seventh postion is Netflix, followed by YouTube, Twitter and at tenth postion Whatsapp. This doesnt mean TikTok is currently the biggest social media site currently, it just has the most number of visits.

TikTok Makes It Way To Samsung, LG And Android TVs, More On The Way

According to Insider Intelligence, TikTok is still behind Facebook and Instagram and is currently the third largest social meda platfrom global. It has grown past the likes of Snapchat and Twitter for number usage.

During the pandemic, users have visited the TikTok domain frequently to enjoy content, create and share. The social media company is pushing for more market share, as it now transitons to home enterainment.

TikTok is finally making its way to Samsung, LG, Android smart TVs and other streaming devices in North America. The screen grabbing app would be coming to other TV manufacturers in the coming months.

The company first announced it was launching on Amazon’s Fire TVs some months ago. TikTok says that watching content from the app on TV would be enjoyable and intuitive.

Tiktok is currently the go-to app for users looking for a good laugh. Even an excellent to watch short informative videos, it has forced YouTube to create a short version of its app ‘Shorts.”

Research firm Insider Intelligence projects that TikTok could have around 20% share of the global social media users by the end of 2022. Now that’s big growth for a relativley new company.
