Reports from Nikkei says Apple would be using its own iPhone modem designs in the year 2023. The Chinese reporting page has a high accuracy in predicting Apple’s events and products.
The reports say that Apple would ditch Qualcomm to work with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company TSMC for its 2023 iPhone 5G modems. Qualcomm has already said it would be making just 20 percent of the iPhone modem in two years time.
TSMC’s newer 4nm modem chips will be used in the production of the 2023 iPhones, while their 5nm chip is in the testing phase according to Nikkei. This new chip would be Apple’s first in-house 5G modem chip.
Nikkei says there are hundreds of TSMC engineers currently working with Apple developers to build the next-gen chips.

Apple is reportedly finishing its electric vehicle custom chip ahead of a 2025 public launch, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The tech company seems to be planning an electric vehicle autonomous company, secretly called project “Titan.”
The custom made chip that will be the brain of this autonomous electric vehicle company appears to have reached completion. Self-driving technology is almost nearing maturing as Apple looks to dive into that space.
Apple’s in-house made chip will reduce its reliance on other chip manufacturers while improving its software and hardware integration. It is turning out to be an interesting race for the most efficient mobile and desktop chip processors in the market.
