Reports from Bloomberg says Sony still makes the Playstation 4, although they are nowhere to be found. Sony spoke about the production hell it’s going through to make the PlayStation 4 and 5 due to the global component shortage.
The Asian company had plans to end production of the PS4 in 2021. Currently, it would have to build about a million more as the shortages are hitting the PS5s the same way. In the interview with Bloomberg, Sony says that the PS4 “is one of the best-selling consoles ever, and there is always crossover between generations.”
Despite all of this, you barely can find the PS4 or PS5 in stock throughout the United States. When you eventually do, they get sold out in minutes, leaving shoppers frustrated. The surest bet is to buy directly from Sony.

Sony is still charging the same $299.9 price it has been selling the PS4 since 2017, although you can only buy one for now. The site boldly says that as a result of “high demand, consoles are limited to 1 per household.”
Earlier reports from Bloomberg say Sony is making fewer PS5s due to some component shortages. The PlayStation 5 has been hard to buy, rearriving and disappearing on online stores.
The high demand coupled with the ongoing global chip storage has limited the production of the gaming console. Bloomberg says that Sony is having challenges with logistics and the arrival of some of the components of the console. Earlier Sony forecasted it would sell 14.8 million PS5 consoles this financial year. But it is currently less than the 16 million units it had plans to assemble between April 2021 and March 2022.
