Nigerian fashion designer and stylist Yomi Casual have cautioned his celebrity colleagues and influencers to respect others in the industry who made it to the top without social media.
Yomi Casual made the comments following the restoration of Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp after the apps crashed for six hours.
Writing on his IG stories, Yomi Casual the apps crash show be a lesson to 21st-century celebrities.
“This should serve as a lesson to y’all 21st-century celebrities and online business owners. You are nothing without the media. Respect those who made it to the top without social media #TheStruggleIsDifferent,” he wrote.
WhatsApp and sister company apps such as Messenger, Facebook and Instagram were down for almost 6 hours yesterday October 4, 2021. These services are back up and running after a team of Engineers fixed its data centre in California.

Parent company Facebook said in an official statement that the cause of the downtime was due to configuration issues. It also reassured users that none of their data was comprised during the outage.
The company said, “this disruption to network traffic had a cascading effect on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to a halt.” Even CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote an apology on Monday evening “Sorry for the disruption today — I know how much you rely on our services to stay connected with the people you care about,” they wrote.
