The new Samsung Galaxy S10 phones, including the S10 Plus and S10e, officially went up for sale on Friday, 8th March 2019.

Whether you plan on buying one or haven’t quite decided if you should, there is much to know about Samsung’s latest batch of smartphones. How much do they cost? What are their differences? Galaxy S10 

The Samsung Galaxy S10 mobile features a 6.1″ (15.49 cm) display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels, and runs on Android v9.0 (Pie) operating system.

The device’s battery has 3400 mAh. The rear camera has a triple camera with 12MP, 12MP and 16MP. It has other features including a light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope and a fingerprint sensor.

The S10 is powered by the best qualcomm processor yet. The 7nm Octa Cores (single 2.8 GHz Kryo 485, three 2.4 GHz Kryo 485 and four 1.7 GHz Kryo 485) snapdragon 855 chip. For graphics and image processing, especially for intense gamers, it also has the Adreno 640.

The S10 is packed with a non-removable 3400 Li-Ion battery capacity that supports fast and wireless charging, both at 15W, and reverse wireless charging (to charge other phones and ear buds by placing it on its glass or ceramic back).

There is a single sim model and another model that uses the hybrid sim set up. The hybrid sim can either use nano + nano or nano + sd card.

It has a storage of 128 GB with the option to expand the memory by up to 512 GB. The Samsung Galaxy S10 is 7.8 mm slim and weighs 157 grams.

The phone is water resistant for up to 30 minutes in a depth of 1.5 metres). It is dust proof and comes in Prism Blue, Prism White, Canary Yellow, Prism Black, Flamingo Pink and Prism Green.

The Galaxy S10 128 GB is available in Nigeria starting at about N329,000.

Galaxy S10 Plus

Just like all plus phones, the S10 plus has a larger screen, 6.4-inch Curved Dynamic AMOLED Quad HD + resolution (3040 x 1440 pixels) and a 19:9 aspect ratio. This screen has also been coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The Galaxy S10 Plus also has three rear cameras, just like the S10 variant, each with 12MP resolution (wide), 12MP (telephoto) and 16MP (ultra wide). It’s two front cameras have 10MP and 8MP resolutions respectively.

Samsung also embeds the Galaxy S10+ with the Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 chipset depending on the marketing region. As for storage, there are three choices of RAM and internal memory available, they are: 8GB/256GB, 8GB/512GB and 12GB/1TB. Similar to the Galaxy S10, this model can also add up to 512GB of external memory via a microSD card slot.

It also has a fingerprint scanner in the screen and the possibility to transform the S10+ into a wireless Qi charger, with which other smartphones can be charged wirelessly.

The Galaxy S10+, alongside the Galaxy S10, comes with advanced hardware like the vapor chamber cooling system that prevents the device from overheating and becoming sluggish.

It also has Artificial Intelligence-based performance improvements, a GPU optimised to ensure smooth gameplay and the long-lasting 4100mAh.

The Galaxy S10+ comes with six innovative prismatic colours, they are: Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Ceramic White and Ceramic black (Ceramic version only available on 8GB/512GB and 12GB/1TB Galaxy S10+ models).

The Galaxy S10+ 128 GB is available in Nigeria at a starting price of about N360,000.

Galaxy S10e 

Samsung Galaxy S10e is the most compact of the trio. The Samsung Galaxy S10e borrows a lot of specs from its big brothers like the Snapdragon or Exynos 9820 on board, depending on your region, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, 15W of both wired and wireless fast charging, and a USB Type-C port. However, some corners were cut to bring the price down.

Samsung Galaxy S10e is equipped with the smallest non-removable battery of the trio at 3,100mAh. However, it has the same 15W wired and wireless fast charging like the others. It even has the reverse wireless charging, with an output of 9W.

Other features include 4G LTE connectivity with VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, FM radio, Samsung DeX and a USB Type-C port with support for USB On The Go. It also retains the 3.5mm jack which comes with Dolby Atmos/AKG sound.

The least expensive of the pack, the Galaxy S10e starts selling at about N270,000.

The Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy Fold won’t be out until April.
