Samsung’s Smart Switch toolkit allows WhatsApp users to transfer their chat history between iOS and Android. This is a nice feature as users wouldn’t be able to download their chat backup when switching operating systems.
This cool feature was announced at Samsung’s launch event yesterday. The company’s flagship foldable Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are eligible. Other Samsung phones “in the coming weeks” can access this feature.
The smart switch feature already solves the mess of transferring WhatsApp data over the different operating systems.
All of the data transferred includes all photos, voice notes, and chats. “Your WhatsApp messages belong to you,” said Sandeep Paruchuri, product manager at WhatsApp.
“We’re excited for the first time to make it easy for people to securely transfer their WhatsApp history from one operating system to another.
Availability for other smartphones from other brands is not yet known, eventually in the coming months. For Samsung phones, this chat history transfer works with a physical Lightning to USB-C cable.

The company seems to have taken a leaf from Google Pixel’s transfer strategy. Google in its initial Pixel shipping box included a Lightning to USB-C cable. This easily transfers your entire files and apps from iOS to its pixels.
Samsung has confirmed that it would be removing Ads from its stock apps sometime this year. Its proprietary apps have had ads on default for all its apps that ships with its phones.
Ads have been annoying on Android, they slow down the UX of the operating system. Hence Apple’s iOS and iPad operating systems are way better, and smooth too.
Samsung has finally listened to its customers and has decided to remove ads from its phones. The smart switch tool is the newest way to transfer chats and data on WhatsApp from iOS to android.
