Snapchat is now making the subscriber count of creators visible on the platform. This is a first for the platform which previously would not give its users any sort of public-facing metric about their followings or audience.

If they want, creators can decide to turn off the subscriber count feature from their settings. Snapchat also introduced creator profiles in September 2020, which means creators can give other users on the platform more insights on their audience helping them to coordinate with brands.

“We’ve listened to feedback from our creator community and many of them expressed interest in having the option to show that their community on Snapchat is growing. So, starting today, we are giving creators the option to make subscriber counts visible on their public profiles.
“We understand not every creator wants to have public metrics visible to their fans, therefore, creators can choose to toggle this metric on and off as needed in their settings,” a Snapchat spokesperson said in explaining why the company is making subscriber count visible.
With the subscriber count visible, brands can see from the handles the reach and audience of a creator thus, making collaborations easier. Previously, the brands would have to ask Snapchat creators to share those details before collaborating. This simply means Snapchat is becoming more business-friendly for creators which could in turn further grow the platform.
